Families First - Fairer Future Fund
Families First
Families First offers practical, compassionate and completely voluntary support for families who choose to engage with us. Our aim is to help reduce child poverty and poverty of aspiration by working alongside parents and carers to build confidence, stability and hope within the home.
Through trusted one-to-one support, we help families access the right advice and agencies for debt, financial pressures and other challenges that can cause stress and impact daily life. Our support is shaped around each family’s needs and may include help to create safe, organised home environments, establish positive routines, and ensure children have what they need to attend school feeling prepared, included and confident.
This can include support with breakfast routines, clothing and school uniforms, as well as practical help such as tidying gardens to create safer spaces for children to play. By reducing pressure at home and encouraging structure, wellbeing and connection, Families First helps children and families feel more secure, supported and able to thrive in school, friendships and community life.
Inspiring Scotland 'Our Future. Now'
An outreach youth work model of intervention in rural communities for vulnerable young people and adults aged 14 to 19 years aiming to improve their health and wellbeing including mental health. In addition to providing support to individuals, staff will engage with family members if requested to provide a social prescribing model of assistance to help them raise their aspirations as a family unit. Staff will work in partnership with community based organisations and mentor young people and adults helping to build their confidence and gain the essential skills to become active citizens in their community and beyond.

Primary & Secondary Schools
Yipworld staff have worked in primary schools through Ayrshire, delivering programmes which develop confidence and self-esteem, health and wellbeing, online safety and general engagement.
Informal learning includes workshops, activities and games to engage pupils and is tailored to each school’s needs and can include working on a one-to-one basis and in small groups for some of the pupils in need of more intensive support.
Yipworld’s work in schools is developed to compliment the curriculum for excellence and to support schools in ensuring that their pupils are safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible and included.
In secondary schools throughout Ayrshire, yipworld have provided an alternative curriculum with modules covering a range of topics including basic life skills and independent living, employability and preparation for work, money management and more, culminating in the award of SCQF points. Delivery is complimented by workshops and activities aimed to engage pupils and reinforce learning.
